The wealth of restaurants and txokos, Basque fine dining clubs, existing in Baskland are an undeniable testimony to the immense pleasure Basques derived from a good meal and their interest in perpetuating the numerous customs surrounding good food. All of these factors have combined to make Basque cookery renowned amongst worldwide culinary traditions.
One excellent culinary experience is that of pintxos. Known as miniature haute cuisine, they are similar to Spanish tapas, but Basque style. There is a wide variety available, ranging from the simple traditional baked mushroom to the most novel creations by aspiring chefs, disciples of the great master chefs who have opted to express their talent in new and exciting ways.
Participants will delight in a stimulating 90-minute cookery demonstration by an accomplished chef who will present new ideas, try out new flavours, and most importantly, teach the audience how to make pintxos, all in a fun and dynamic way. With the help of an experienced support team, participants will be divided into teams to get hands on experience in pintxo- making. The activity will end with a contest where the winning team receives a prize.
Participants will then get to savour their own pintxo creations as hors d’oeurves in the garden, followed by lunch in the indoor dining room. The activity can take the shape of a workshop, or of a contest with prizes and awards.
